The winds have backed from the south-west to westerly and r-ortherly in most parts of the country, the barometer rising during the night, twit falling everywhere today. Heavy showers and squally weather were experienced during Tuesday night, but fair •weather has prevailed: today. Forecast. —Present indications arc for strong westerly winds generaly, the barometer felling everywhere. Rain is probable on the west coast and in the southernmost parts of the South Island, and fair to cloudy and somewhat' squally and changeable weather elsewhere.
