BY AIRSHIP TO PARIS.
ARRANGING A PASSENGER SERVICE. London, August 21. Before verr long it may be possible to travel from London to Paris by airship. Captain Houber is the pioneer of a scheme whereby a huge aircraft will fly between these cities, making calls on route. The necessary capital has been promised, so that there is no immediate question of floating a company in this country. It is pointed out that, whereas a Zeppelin costs £33,000 to build, the dirigible to be used by Captain Houber can be constructed for about £15,000, while it will have a. greater lifting power, owing to the absence of frame work. At present there are two aircraft at work on the Continent, each with motors of 150-h.p., but it is the intention to supply them with either two or four motors of 250-h.p. for work in this country. Questioned as to the "fares," Captain Houber mentioned £lO for a journey over London, £25 to Brighton and back, and £SO to Paris and back, which, he said, would be very moderate, compared with the prices now being paid for short trips by aeroplane.
