RACE MURDER.
A VIGOROUS SPEECH. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 27, 1.5 a.m. Melbourne, September 20. Professor Rentoul, in his presidential address at the Presbyterian Assembly, said that the maternity allowance was a transparent trick to catch votes in the coming political scramble. He deplored the rapid extirpation of the race in Australia, and said that a horrible kind of secret murder was penetrating the houses of the people and sapping the nation's life. Race murder outweighed the increases, by immigration, and was deadlier to the British Empire than a long-continued war. He denied the contention of the Roman Catholics that that body was freer than any other from this offence.
