ANNUAL MEETING. There was a large attendance of shareholders at the annual meeting of the Omata Co-opArative Dairy Company, Ltd.. which was held at New Plymouth on Saturday afternoon. Mr. A. R. Matthews (chairman of directors) presided. ANNUAL REPORT. In commenting on the satisfactory nature of the year's transaction, the chairman, in the course of the directors' report, said that the balance to the credit of the profit and loss account, after providing for 5 per cent, interest on fullypaid shares, was £241 2s 7d, and out ,of this the directors had decided to write oil' 5 per cent, depreciation on factory and creamery. £59 lis Kid, leaving a balance of .CIBI 7s' 9d, out of which they proposed a further payment of %d per lb for butter-fat supplied by shareholders during the months of January to July inclusive, which would absorb £177 19s sd, and leave £3 Ss 4d to be carried forward, or otherwise dealt with. This further payment would bring the net payment for butter-fat for the year to 11.92 d per lb, in addition to interest on capital and provision for depreciation. According to the annual statement for the year 1 ill 1-12, there were 33 suppliers to the factory, and 17 to the creamery. At the factory US2,»S4Ib of milk were received, and at the creamery !)70,7211b, The pounds of cream received at the factory numbered 71,132, and 44,43(i at the creamery. The total pounds of butter-fat received was 151.08©, and the total amount of butter made was 173,072 lb. The pounds of butter made per lb of butter-fat were 1.141b, and the average price per lb received bor butter was 11.92 d. The cost of manufacturing per lb (including depreciation and all expenses and payments was 1.04 d, and the average price paid out per lb of butterfat was 11.83 d.. The average test was: Factory, milk 4. cream 43.8; creamery, milk 3.94, cream 41.7. The average grade lor the season was 92.38.
The report and balance-sheet were, unanimously adopted. After some discussion had taken place regarding the failure of the directors to have the suppliers' cream weighed.and tested at Korn. and the smallness of the overrun, nothing was decided upon, the directors intimating that both matters were receiving attention. Two directors (Messrs. Jury and Watson) retired, the former by rotation. Mr. Watson did not offer himself for reelection. Four nominations were received. Messrs. J. Bentham and J. Jury wen; elected. The unsuccessful candidates were Messrs. P. Raill and \V. Thompson. Mr. C. T. Mills was re-elected auditor. Tn reply to a question, the chairman intimated that the directors intended erecting a tcsl'm.u-room at. the factory. A motion was proposed by Mr. Bayly that the Government be asked to send a competent man to the factory and the creamery, to report to ihe directors on the methods in vogue. The motion w,i< carried unanimously. On the motion of Mr. Wood if was decided to call tenders for all carting from the factory at the expiration of the present contract. Tu Ihe opinion of the mover at least a penny a lv>x should be saved in the cartage of butter. •The question of cheese versus butter was discussed at some length. The shareholders decided, by a large majorit v to stick to butter. The discussion i*' reported in another column. The directors and secretary were accorded a hearty vote of thanks, and the chairman's honorarium increased to £ 15.
