HARBOR BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. Yesterday's meeting of the New Plymouth Harbor Board was attended by the chairman (Mr. J. B. Connett) and Messrs AVilkinson, M.P., Newton King, E. Maxwell, 0. E. Bellringer, D. Hughes and E. Dockrill.
TO STOP VANDALISM.. Mr. R. C. Hughes, president of the New Plymouth Beautifying Society, drew the attention of the Board to the serious injury which was being done, from time to time to property of the Board at the Sugar Loaf Islands. He had seen smoke on many occasions ascending from one or the other of the islands and from about Paritutu, and on visiting the spot lie had seen the destruction caused 'by fire. Gradually these places were being denuded of their lo,yely .grasses, and plants. He hoped'the Bdard would take some steps to prevent wanton injury and punish the perpetrators.. Perhaps the offering of a reward for the- detection of the offenders, and the putting up of notices in several .conspicuous places might be-helpful. Perhaps also 'if the Board were to ask their;employees to interest themselves ; in p'reveiitihg'such offences good would result; "'.;'''' ' ...
