THE WEATHER
SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. Last Night. The following weather summary and forecast was issued by the Government Meteorological Bureau at 5 p.m.: —Summary: West to south-westerly winds have prevailed, strong to a gale in parts, but decreasing to-day, while the weather has c onsiderably improved. The barometer lias risen everywhere. Forecast: Present indications are for moderate to strong westerly winds generally, but squally at times in Cook and Fovea ux Straits. Fair to cloudy weathei is probable generally, with some local •howers. especially on the west coast and in the southernmost districts. The barometer lias a rising tendency, but is due to fall again after about twentyfour hours.
