FOOTBALL

TARAjSTAKI v. manawatu. To-morrow the final representative match of the season will he played, when Taranaki meet the representatives of Manawatu at the Recreation Grounds, New Plymouth. Considerable interest is being evinced in the match, which is certain to "prove exciting, as,Manawatu easily .accounted for Wairarapa, after the men in the green jerseys had beaten Taranaki. On paper, therefore, Manawatu should prove too much for the local team, but it is impossible to gauge football results by mathematical calculation, and, moreover, the inconsistent Taranaki team had an, off-dav when they met Wairarapa. The train arrangements should suit admirably, as the match will not start until 3.15, in order to enable arrivals by the 3 p.rc. train to get to the ground in time for the kick-off. The evening train, after the match, has also been considerably delayed. The Manawatu team will arrive by the mail train this evening, and will stay at the 1m; perial Hotel. The team will consist of the following players; Full-back, Hughes; three-quarters, Eglinton. Bennett, McGregor: five-eighths, Waldcgrave, Ford; half, Kerr; wing forward, Walsh; forwards, Brown, V. Carroll. Harkness, Frame, Hardic, C. Carroll. Hope. Emergencies: Forwards, McDonald, Hicks; back, TTands, v 1
