Several branches of the amalgamated railwaymen have protested against the Laborites forcing three-cornered contests and threaten to withdraw their support to the Parliamentary fund. THE WAGES QUESTION. Received 16, 9.50 p.m. London, September 16. Sixty-two thousand dyers, gasworkers and laborers at Bradford are demanding an advance to sevenpence an hour. " THE CASUAL CLERKS. Received 17, 12.15 a.m. London, September 16. A meeting of London branches of the Railway Society instructed the -delegates at the annual* meeting to demand the expulsion of the executive which was responsible for the treatment of casual clerks. INCREASED REXTS. COXGESTIOX IN AUSTRALIA. Received 16, 10.40 p.m. Sydney, September 16. Mr. Dick Meagher, introducing a deputatin representing the Labor Leagues, asking for legislation to regulate the abnormal increase of rents, said that the benefits of industrial legislation had been expunged twice and thrice by the extortionate increases of rent. Instances were given of increases of 50 per cent. Families were herding together to save rent. Some were living in stables and yards. Mr. McGowan promised the matter serious consideration. Ministers, he said, hoped soon to make a definite proposal. The Government making bricks at half private cost should help the situation.
