A NORTH SEA LEAK. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Received 15, 5.5 p.m. Berlin, September 15. General Von Schatt, writing to the Tageblatt, .urges the Admiralty not to wait till an embankment is built at Westerland, in Sylt. It was no secret that England intended to use Borkum as a base. Therefore this notorious leak in the North Sea defence should be promptly sealed. He recommends the building of an immediate war harbor at List, on the Westerland. PROTECTING THE NORTH SEA. Berlin, September 13. It has been decided to connect Westerland, in Sylt' Island, with SehleswigHolstein. by an embankment, costing £•250,000, 10 carry a prolongation of the mainland railway, with a view to fortifying and garrisoning the island. The Island of Sylt is in the North Sea, off the coast of Schleswig-ITolstein. and iust south of Denmark. The object of its fortification is obviously to prevent its bejng occupied by a hostile force, as a base for a land attack c»i Germany.
