Mr. C. N. Baeyertz, editor of the Triad, is visiting New Plymouth. Messrs. M. -«,iid G. Fraser returned last week from a tour of the South Sea Islands. Senior Sergeant-Detective Boddani, who lias been laid up with a somewhat serious illness, is abou£, again. Mr. E. Citing, of the warders'' staff of the New Plymouth Gaol, leaves this week under transfer to Wellington. > Mr. Geo. Fenwick, managing director of the Otago Daily Times, is visitina New Plymouth. He will leave for Wellington to-morrow. The Waimate West County Council has appointed Mr. W. J. Lopdell, at present works foreman and bridge inspector for the Southland County (the largest county in the Dominion)'to be overseer in succession to Mr. Archer. Constable M. Flanagan, who has beea stationed in Hawera for three years, has received notice of his transfer -to ■Uokau, where he will have charge of a ■ large district. He will be succeeded hr Constable Wavneford, of Mokau.—Star
