A PECULIAR FATALITY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Nelson, Last Night. Webley Hadfield. an eighteen mouths old child, m.'t his death in a peculiar manner on Wednesday evening. His parents were travelling in a motor-boat between Awaroa. and Tonga, and during the journey the child fell against the engine flywheel, and was instantly killed. A PRISONER KILLED. Auckland, Last Night. A prisoner named George McGurk, aged thirty-six, who was serving a sentence of seven years for having attempted to murder a man at Devonport, was accidentally killed at Mount Eden Gaol this afternoon. He was hauling up timber in connection with the roof of the new wing which is being built, and a heavy piece of timber fell out of the sling, striking McUurk on the head. The injured man died twenty minutes after the accident.
