CATCHING EELS.

USE OF SET NETS CONDEMNED. Feilding, September 7. At the monthly meeting of the Feilding Acclimatisation Society last night a letter was read from the Marine Department asking for an expression of opinion as to the advisability of set nets for catching eels for export purposes. The proposition found no lavor with the meeting, and it was decided that a strong protest be lodged on the grounds that such nets would mean considerable illegal catching of trout. It was decided to ask Mr. Ayson to visit this district and advise as to the most suitable fish for the district.
