The Broken Hill Miners' Association, as a protest against militarism, declined to participate in the Hospital Sunday Demonstration, if the cadets were included. The committee decided to expunge the cadets from the programme, but thereupon the band and the Master Builders' Association refused to join. The committee is in a quandary.

MORE BURGLARIES. Sydney, September 11. Burglars secured £4O from . Judge Fitzhardingc's house. Another gang entered the works of Williams, a bamboo manufacturer, and were disappointed to find no money in the safe. They regaled themselves with whisky and cigars.
THE NEW COMET. (Sydney, September 11. The Government astronomer has picked up tJhe comet observed by Mr. Gale. Possibly it will remain visible in the evening sky for a considerable time, but whether it will become bright enough to te visible to the naked eye is impossible to-ascertain.
