An organising committee "was appointed. Professor David announced that a smal. party of scientists would probably visit New Zealand, at the special invitation ot the Government. ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION. London, September 9. At the meeting of the British Association, Sir Clement Markham read a paper on Antarctic exploration. He paid a tribute to Captain Scott, as the greatest of all polar explorers. hi< expeditions being the most fruitful. He believed Captain Scott intended to solve whether the Victorian and Edwardian mountains junctioned, and also to solve the problem of the great ice barrier.
