SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Presa Association. Wellington, Last Night. Rer. D. C. Bates (Government Meteorologist) issues the following report:— Summary: The barometer has fallen very low in the south, and an extensive area of low pressure has enveloped the country. C.ale* have been experienced in several parts, and the weather has been Tery unsettled, with heavy rain on the West Coast, but the conditions have, up to the present, proved milder than anticipated. Forecast: Present indications are for westerly winds, strong to gale, veering to southerly. The barometer is very unsteady, but. is due to rise everywhere soon, and unsettled weather with rain is probable generally. Snow may be expected on the higher levels in the south and a short spell of colder weather generally.
