Lieut.-General Mac Arthur was attending a re-union of his old regiment. 24th Wisconsin Volunteers, when he dropped dead from apoplexy. Captain Parson, a comrade in arms, was stricken with paralysis on seeing Mac Arthur fall. General Mac Arthur distinguished himself during the Atlanta campaign in the Civil War.
