MATTHEWS, BENNETT & OO.'S REPORT. Matthews, Bennett and Co. had a fair yarding of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last. Springers were in fair demand, and young cattle sold well. -Practically everything was sold at the following prices:—Springing heifers (good) £7 to £8 las. others £5 to £0 10s, cows (good) £8 to £lO 10s, inferior £4 to £5, store cows £3 4s to £3 l!)s, old do. 35s to £2, empty heifers £3 10s to £4 7s, yearling heifers £2 15s to £3 2s, crossbred Holstein do. . £3 14s. mixed yearlings £2 2s to £2 18s, bulls £3 to £3 15s. Holstein do. £O. At the mart oil Saturday there was a good entry of pigs, which sold freely at tlie following rates:— Weancrs 12s Od to 10s Od, stores £1 2s to £1 ss. SOUTHERN MARKETS. ADDINGTON. At Addington live stock market there were fair entries of stock, and fat sheep were in good supply. A pen of specially good ewe hoggets realised 10s 3d. Other ewe hoggets 153 (id to 15s od. wether hoggets (extra good) 15s 8d to 17s 9d. medium hoggets (wethers and mixed lines) 12s Id to 14s 8(1, inferior and cull sorts lis Id. Forward four and six-tooth wethers 'brought 20s to 20s 7d, two and four-tooth 17s ; to 17s Od, small two-tooths 15s 2d. Four and six-tooth ewes of average class made 19s Od to 225, small two and fourtooth 20s Id, four, six and eight-tooth 18s fld. Lines of mixed ages 10s to 17s fid, inferior two-tooths 15s 10(1 to 10s 2d, merino ewes 12s 4d. A few ewes with lambs realised !)s to 0s !)d.
Fat sheep—Extra prime wethers to •20s, prime 20s to -255. others 18s 4(1, extra prime ewes to 28s 3d, prime 17s to 225. others 13s 7d to l{is fid, hoggets His 3d, merino wethers 14s 2d to lSs Id. Fat cattle —Steers realised £8 to £l2, extra to £lB 12s fid. heifers £(i 10s to £ll 15s, cows £5 17s fid to £!) 10s, extra to £l2 10s. Store eattle —Yearlings made 30s to £2 Is. fifteen to eighteen months sorts £3 5s to £3 15s, two-year steers £5 10s, two-year heifers £4 17s Gd, threeyear steers £6 3s (id, three-year heifers £5 5s to £5 15s, cows 30s to £4 12s (id. Dairy cows, which were chiefly rough sorts, sold at £4 to £!). Fat pigs—Choppers £3 10s to £5 10s, heavy baeoners 70s to 755. light sorts to 05s (equal to 5%d to s'/Ul per lb). Heavy porkers made 48s to 525, lighter pigs 42s to 47s (equal to 5%d to Gd per lb). There was a large entry of store pigs and a good sale. One buyer alone secured lines aggregating 0!). Large stores made 35s to 4!is Gd. medium 28s to 345, small sorts 18s to 275. Weaners were rather easier, realising from 12s to Ids, extra making to 18s.
JOHXSONTILLE. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report: At .Tohnsonville on Wednesday a full yarding of prime sheep and eattle came forward and sold readily at late rates. Prime heavv bullocks made £l2, prime bullocks £ll 5s to £ll 12s fid. lighter £lO 12s fi.l to £lO ]ss. light £9 13s, fat cows £fi. vealcrs 375. extra, prime heavy wethers 24s 2d to 2(is, prime wethers 21s 3d to 225, light wethers 19s fid, extra prime ewes 23s Id, prime ewes 20s 9d to 21s. porkers £2 4s. WANGANUI. Dalgely and Co. report:—At Wanganui on Wednesday we had a small yarding, and a fair demand existed for all classes. We quote: Mixed hoggets 14s fill. 2-tooth ewes and wethers IGs 3d, 20mitilth to 2-vear steers £4 5s to £4 15s, forward heifers £4 5s to £4 9s, store eows £3 IDs (id to £4 (is, mixed yearlings £2 17s 6d, yearling heifers £3 13s fid, dairy cows (rough class) £4 to £5 15s.
