ENTERTAINMENTS.
EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE. Despite the inclement weather and strong counter attractions last night, there was a really good house at the Empire Theatre to witness the current programme. The pictures drew forth the warmest of approval, and amply repaid the ventursome who braved the elements. It would be difficult to single out any one film for special mention, every item being of the highest order. Two pictures that appealed strongly to everyone were "The Lesser Evil" and "Children who Labor," the former being of the sensational order, whilst the latter deals with the subject of child labor, a question constantly arising in the United States of America. Two magnifi cent scenic items wore, "A Visit to the Roman Ruins" and "Around the Stockholm Archipelago," both being gorgeously toned and tinted. The comic films kept everyone in a good humor throughout, and were responsible for mucih hearty laughter. The same programme will be repeated again to-night for the last time.
