FRENCH MINING DISASTER
"*BIG LOSS OF LIFE FEARED. By Cable-Press Assooiation-Conyright. Received 5. 12.40 a.m. Paris. September 4. A firedamp explosion occurred in the Clarence mine at Bethune. Thirtv-three have been rescued, whereof twenty-three *re seriously burned. Four dead bodies hay G been recovered, thirtv-even are •till entombed, and the chance of rescue is hopeless.
