DISTRICT NEWS.
WAREA. On Tuesday we were favored with a visit from Bishop Orossley, and in the evening a conversazione was held in the hall, aiid there was a large attendance. Mr-A. Clothier occupied .the chair. The Bishop expressed himself [pleased with movements the residents had in hand for building a church in the district, lie understood the committee had a considerable amount of money in hand, hut could not obtain a site. He facetiously remarked that he had heard of land liding/ bought in the olden days for a pair of shoes, and said he would willingly give the shoes he was wearing for a .site for a. church. Afterwards a site wa.s offered by Mrs I'icrson, and it is : said the shoes were tendered, but not accepted! The Bishop also «poko in favor of Tiible teaching in schools. Speeches in connection with chureh were given by Archdeacon Evans, Rev. Mr ' Addenbrooke, and Mi- W. J. Gray. During the evening some fine selections' were contributed by the Diu-kcv family. Songs were also sung by Rev Adenbrooke ami Mrs Parker, and a duet by Mrs S.. Wells .arid Mrs ('. Parker: Miss C'orbett. pianoforte solo; Miss Ida Wellri pianoforte solo, during the evening. Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, the Government candidate, will lecture here on September fith at 12 noon. The milk at the local- factory is now on the increase. I understand that cheese will be manufactured from October 1.
