TURNER CHARGED WITH MURDER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The inquest on the body of Percy John Turner, who died as the result of a shot fired by his father on Saturday, was held this afternoon. Dr. Roberts gave evidence that the bullet had passed through the lower lobe of the feft lung, causing severe hemorrhage. The bullet struck the vertebral column, and was found in the spinal cord. Death was due to loss of blood. Robert Franklin Turner gave evidence as to hearing the report of the gun, and seeing his brother fall. His father had a gun in his hand. Witness picked up a revolver at the stable door, where the shooting took place. His father closed the stable door, which was made after the style of a grating, and pointed the gun at witness, who pointed the revolver at his father. The latter afterwards came out, threw the gun at witness, and rushed away. Witness threw the gun hack at his father, who picked it up and ran into the street. The revolver was not found where his brother fell. Witness had never seen the revolver or the gun before. The revolver was loaded in six chambers. The relations between his father and deceased were? not happy. Before being shot, deceased was standing about the spot where the revolver was picked up. Sergeant O'Connell said that when Turner, sen., gave himself up he said he had shot his son in selfdefence, as the latter had a revolver and threatened to shoot him.
