Mr. Hughes, Canadian Minister of Militia, interviewed in London, said that although Canada did not at present require universal training such as the Australian circumstances imposed, he was convinced that, even if war were abolished it would still pay to give military training, inculcating discipline, co-opera-tion and self-control. The Canadian cadet system was nourishing, and every man should be able to shoot and manoeuv te.
