A sensation was caused at For bury Crescent, St, Clair, at midday to-day, the cause being a shooting ali'ray which took place at the residence of Robert Turner. It appears that Percy John Turner had some words with his father, Robert Turner, this morning, before going to work, the altercation being due to his father having been out of employment for some time The son ordered bis father out of the house and assaulted him, and then went away. The father, incensed by his son's conduct;, laid in wait for bim when he came home, and shot him in the side. Dr. Lindon was summoned and he ordered the removal of the victim to the hospital, where it. was found that the injuries were of such a character as to necessitate an operation. The bullet entered the left side a few inches below the armpit and penetrated some of the organs. The bullet was extracted when it was found that there was little hope of the young man's recovery. The police made arrangements to have his depositions taken, but this was out of the question, as he was in an unconscious condition. Robert Franklyn Turner, an elder son, said that he heard the report of the gun come from the direction of the stable and saw his brother fall, and. then his father rushed out of the stable with the gun in his hand. He had never seen the gun before. After perpetrating the crime Turner ran to the street, where he was met by a neighbor named Ross, who took the gun from bim. They then went to the South Diw/'in Police Station, where Turner gave himseif up, saying that lie had 1 shot his son in the arm. lie denied subsequently any intention to kill his son. Turner succumbed to his injuries at G. 40 to-night. He was employed as a commercial traveller. A charge of murder is to be brought against Robert Turner.
