| MR. MeKEOWN WITHDRAWS. Mr. A. McKeown notifies in another column that he has retired from the contest for the Egmont seat. The' fight will therefore be a straight-out one 'between Messrs. Wilkinson and Asfcbury, the Government and Opposition candidates respectively. _ The Manaia eoruespoisidfcnt 1 of the Wellington says:—.The Conservative candidate, Mr. Wilkinson, is making feeble efforts on the platform, and everywhere the Liberal candidate speaks he is gaining ground. AY ere it not for the systematic organisation of the Fa.rmers' Union organiser. -Mr Buckeridge, who has been canvassing the electorate for the last two months, the Liberal candidate would win easily. As it is, there wilL.be a eloso contest.
