! SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Department published the following summary and forecast. at' "> p.m. to-day: —Summary—. .Northerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed' northward of Hokitika and Kaikoura, and east to south-easterly winds elsewhere. Overcast, misty and Bhowery weather has prevailed. The barometer has fallen in the north, but lias been unsteady with a rising tendency to-day in the south. Forecast—Present indications are for gloomy and wet weather, with heavy rain in parts and snow on the higher levels in the south. Colder weather is expected shortly. The barometer haa been falling in the north, hut will rise everywhere after from 24 to 36 hours. Northerly and easterly winds, changing to southerlies and south-easterlies.
