Terrible Cyclone.

TOWN OF GREXFELL DEVASTATED. SERIOUS DAMAGE DONE. GOVERNMENT SENDS RELIEF. By Cable.—Pres* Association—Copyright Received -J7. 10.45 p.m. Sydney. August 27. A cyclone visited (jren'fell at 5.30 yesternight. It swept along a track a hundred yards wide, including George street, one of the principal thoroughfares. Many houses were unroofed, chimneys demolished, verandahs and balconies ripped bodily away, and trees everywhere uprooted. Business places also suffered, including Tunney's large produce stores, which were levelled to the ground. A blacksmith's shop fell like a pack of cards. The tanks at a plumber's shop were caught and whirled over a fence some distance away. The verandahs at the Royal Hotel were carried eighty yards. Sheets of iron skimmed along and terrified horses galloped through the town. There was intense excitement among the residents, several of whom were injured. One was blown through the window of a butcher's shop, and severeh cut by glass. George, street is completely ..wrecked. The damage amounts to many thousands. A heavy thunderstorm and torrents of rain followed. Mr. McGowen has provided £2OO for the immediate relief of the sufferers.
