EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE.

The splendid programme now showing j at the popular "Empire" attracted an- i other full house last night. The itianagement introduced a new film for the first, time last evening, which proved ! very popular. This was entitled "The Passing of J. B. Randall and Co." An Edison production of sterling mirit, it tells of a newsboy waif who was be-, friended by a despondent financier, whose fortunes were swept away in the tide of chance, and who contemplated suicide. The two struck up a joint part-, nership, and, in a simple little room, started life anew. The story, as portrayed, is a very forceful one, and was accomplished in the brilliant manner that marks all Edison releases. Other notablo dramas are: "Where the Moneys Went" (Vitagrpiph), "Love and Tears" ) (Lubin/, and "'Fate's Interception" (A.8.). An interesting study wa,s afforded in "The Pitcher Plant," and "Pups," a .colored series, depicted the frolics of several tiny puppies in a pleasing manner. Several clever comedies provided plenty of mirth and kept the-audience in high spirits throughout. "The Bachelor's Waterloo" is breezy leap year story by Edison of a' young bachelor devoted to his books and determined never to marry, and how he met his Waterloo. It is indeed funny,' as also is "Widow Jenkins' Admirers" and "A Tenderfoot's Troubles." The same programme will be repeated to-night for the last time. For -to-morrow night the management has secured a 3000 ft. production of that favorite Irish drama, "Shamus O'Brien." 5 This series is ireputed' to outclass all leases.
