ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
DUNEDIN DROWNING FATALITY. By Telegraph.— Press ABsociation. Dunedin, Last Night. Ine body of George Taiaroa, who was drowned in the harbor on Friday, was recovered yesterday morning. At the inquest a verdict of accidental drowning was returned. Deceased, who was 48 years old, leaves a widow and twelve children, the eldest of whom is 20 years of age. SUFFOCATED BY GAS. ~ Wellington, Saturday. At the inquest on the bodies of Mary Gorman and Edward Marshall, found in a house in Walter street on Monday last, medical evidence was given that blood found in each of the deceased showed poisoning by carbon monoxide. Death was attributed to coal gas. A verdict was returned that deceased met their deaths through poisoning by carbon monoxide. The coroner was of the opinion that Marshall and Norman went into the house and, finding that gas was not available, they put a shilling into the slot and subsequently by some misadventure left the burner turned on.
