LATE MR McCARTHY.
THE FUNERAL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington. Last Night. The funeral of Mr. T. (i. McCarthy took place this morning in Karori cemetery. At 9 o'clock a solemn requiem mass was celebrated in St. Mary of Angels' Church. The mass was said by the Rev. Father McCarthy. In addition to Mrs. T. G. McCarthy there were also present in the sanctuary Dean Regnault, Dean O'Shca. Dean Tubman, Rev. Fathers A. Herring, S.M.. Goggan, S.M.. Murray, C.S.S.R., McDermott, C.S.S.R., and Daly, S.M. Amongst the clergy also present in the body of the church were the Rev. Dr. Kennedy (rector of St. Patrick's College), Dean Lane, Rev. Fathers O'Reilly Ilickson and J. Herring. After mass the cortege left for Karori. The gathering of citizens and public men was a very large and representative one, and included the Hon. A. L. Herdman (Attorney-General, representing the Government). Sir Joseph Ward, Hons. R. A. Loughnan and 11. Gilmer, M.L.C.'s, Mr. D. McLaren (Mayor of Wellington), Mr. J. B. Harcourt (president of the Wellington Racing Club), Councillors Godber and Fitzgerald, Mr. Trevor (chairman of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board), Mr. Charles Plimmer, Drs. Pollin and Martin, Rev. Van Staveren, Mr. C. P. Skerrett, K.C., Messrs. Martin Kennedy, W. C. Gasr|uoine, W. H. Ballinger, James Ames and J. E. Henrys, Hon. T. W. Ilislop. Mr. S. Gilmer, and many other prominent business men, besides Mr. McCarthy's employees. The hearse was covered with floral tokens of sympathy from all classes in the community. The I Rev. Father McCarthy conducted the I service at the graveside.
