ACCIDENT INSURANCE. By Telegraph—Own Correspondent. Pahiatua, Last Night. some time past there has been dissatisfaction amongst local bodies < throughout this district, in regard to the rates charged by accident insurance companies. Many local bodies are noifc taking their own risks. The Akitio County Council is now circulating local bodies in the Wairarapa and Bush districts with a view to establishing an accident sinking fund. LIGHT LINES. Pahiatua, Last Night, A deputation of delegates from various local bodies in this and surrounding districts will wait upon the Hon. W. Fraser, Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, on Friday afternoon, to urge, the opening up of the WellingtonEast Coast district by the construction of light lateral lines. The deputation will comprise delegates from the Pahiatua Borough and County Councils and District Progressive Association, the Palmerston North Borough Council aftd Chamber of Commerce, and the Danrievirke Borough Council and Chamber of Commerce. The deputation will urge the construction of the following light feeder lines, aggregating 80 miles, in preference to over 100 miles of heavy line: —Masterton - Waipukurau loop line scheme, Dannevirke to Weber 20 miles, Pahiatua to Pongaroa 30 miles, Eketahuna to Alfredton 12 miles. Masterton to Taueru 12 miles, Featherston to Martinborough 12 miles.
