COMMUNION SERVICES.
THE "COMMON CUP" TO DISAPPEAR. Auckland, August 10. Tho evils of "The Common Cup" in communion services wore dealt with last night at the annual meeting of St. David's Presbyterian Church. Dr. Neil M. MeDougall moved that in future individual cups be used. He stated that nearly all the leading churches in Auckland had already adopted it. Tuberculosis, the doctor said, was an evergrowing disease, very common in the young people of to-day, many of whom were perhaps unaware that they had it slumbering within them. It was perfectly easy to transmit germs of the disease from mouth to mouth, and the British Medical Journal recently contained an instance of an infectious complaint being given in that way. Cancer was another serious complaint which occasionally attacked people in the mouth, and many were unconscious of its presence for quite a long time. Mr. Duncan Maepherson, city missioner, differed from Dr. MeDougall, quoting St. Luke, who said, '"Take this and divide it among yourselves." He did not believe in this theory of "You in your small corner, and i' in mine," j and urged members to continue in the good old-fashioned style.
