STATE COAL.
REPORTED CLOSING OF DEPOTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. Monday. The Government has decided to close all the retail depots in Wellington, Wnnganui. Cliristchurch and Dunedin established for the sale of State coal. Of late there have been labor troubles, and these, accentuated by the shortage of labor at the mines, have brought about a restricted output. Tile mines are unable to 6upply botli private and State needs, the railways being practically able to consume the whole of the present output, REPORT DENIED. Wellington, Monday. The Minister of Mines states that there is no truth in the announcement that the State coal depots are to be closed, and adds that the matter is not even being discussed bv Cabinet.
