AN EXTRAORDINARY SCENE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, New York. August 16. There was an extraordinary scene in New York when an Italian was killed l>y a street car. Twelve hundred Italian workmen knelt around the decapitated liody in the middle of the street, and forcibly held up traffic for ten minutes while they offered prayers for the soul of the dead man. The conductor declared that the Italian's death was due to the fact that he jumped off the wrong side in an effort to avoid paying his fare.
