NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. To-day the first qualifying round for the championship will be played, and concurrently with it and next Saturday's round will be played two medal handicaps—one for those with handicaps of 10 and under, and the other for those whose handicaps are over 10. The first eight on the gross scores for the 30 holes will qualify for the championship, and will play off by match play. An entrance fee of 2s 6d is payable by each competitor. All players whose handicaps are 10 or under must start from the' first tee; others may begin at the Summit. Players are reminded that practice over the course before the commencement of a medal competition renders them liable to disqualification (Stroke Rule, No. 4.). Last Saturday's entries for the 1 Mixed Foursomes were the largest yet received for any of the Club's competitions, no fewer than 50 players actually 'taking part in the match, while some nine or ten others were playing practice rounds. The match was won by Mi*s Bewley and A. Bewley, with a score of 93—7—86.
