To the Editor. _ ' Sir, —Your loader on life above I (think deserves more than a mere passing comment. There can lie no gainraying the fact but that our present education system is at the bottom of 'the trouble you mention, that is. the in- ' <-.'asin«f prevalence of juvenile* crime by both sexes. One has only to read ! lie Supreme and Police Court news to !'C assured that our education system is responsible for a host of male 'hooli- j gans and she larrikins, caused indirectly l>.y the laxity or inability of parents in performing their duties as you put it. The parents, Jike many others, put very little value on what they get for nothing, and leave the matter of strictures to the school teacher, and as soon as he has to reprimand Johnny or Mary they are up in arms at once at such a thing as a cane being used upon their annotated. You know yourself that if you gave your paper free to all and sundry your action would he unappreciated, because they got the paper for nothing. Therefore, those -who can pay should have to. It does look like a scandal to see llosts of well-to-do people riding in their motors and the country taxed to educate their children free.—l am, etc., CITIZEN.
