DISTRICT NEWS.
ItAHOTU. (From our own correspondent.) Tlio concert recently given in aid of tin: Methodist organ fuiul was worthy of ;i much larger audience than attended. However, those present showed their appreciation in 110 unmistakable manner, every item being well received. Everybody agreed that they had full value for their money. The following wns the programme:—Pianoforte solo, Miss A. Cook; glee, company; song, Miss Oxenham; recitation, Master F. Phillips; duet, Miss M. and Mr. T. Hugh son; recitation, Miss Mabel Phillips; song, Mr. Kelly; reading, Mr. T. Hughson; song, Mr. G. Ilughson; recitation, Master C. Hopping; song, Mr. T. Hughson; recitation, Master F. Phillips; song, Mr. Kelly; song, Miss Oxcnliam; song, Mr. Taylor; dialogue, company; glee, company. It is intended to repeat the concert at Opunake about the 20th inst., when it is hoped it will he accorded large support. It certainly should not -be missed by anyone.
There has been a lot of sickness and also a number of accidents on the coast lately. Mr. Kitchingman, one of our old residents, is in the hospital, but his friends will be pleased to hear he is improving. Mr. A. Baker is also there,' and Mr. Miller, of Oaonui, who was thrown from his bicycle, and was badly cut about the face and had slight concussion of t'he brain, but both are now on the mend. ■ Much sympathy is felt for Mr., Mrs. Hopkins and family in the death of little Stephen, who was a popular little fellow with hi.s schoolmates.
