The Manawatu hockey representatives defeated Taranaki by three goals to one, in beautiful weather and on a good ground. Manawatu rushed right in from the bully, Hammer scoring. They continued the attack, varied by occasional Taranaki rushes, and narrowly missed adding two more goals. Then Fitt scored and ends changed with Manawajtti 2, Taranaki 0. Late in the second spell Hammer added a third goal for Mana-watu,-and J.
