The papers in the Chidley case, tabled in the Assembly, include the police complaints against the alleged indecency of Chidley's discussions in public. The doctors report that, judging by the usual standards, Chidley, mast be considered mentally unsound. A special report by the Inspector-General of the Insane, pre■ented to the Government, is understood to endorse the medical opinions. It was on these grounds that Chidley was sent to the asvlum.
