' The Canadian Trade Commissioner for New Zealand, reporting on trade possibilities between the Dominions, urges larger importations of Canadian cattle, the development of the importation of lumber from British Columbia. New Zealand's export of butter Canadawards in 1912 exceed all expectations, due to the steamship facilities in existence and the reciprocal tariffs. Sir W. attitude on the Canadian Navy question is eagerly canvassed in political circles. Sir W. Laurier does not look kindly on the proposal for an inter-party conference with the object of evolving a naval policy and securing the •upport of all sections of political opinion. He believes that the question is entirely one for the Borden Government, the opposition confining itself to itr natural functions of criticism of a concrete scheme when evolved.
