A QHSSTION IN THE HOUSE. By Telegraph— Own Correspondent, Wellington, Last Night. To-day Mr. Okey gave notice to ask the Native Minister whether, seeing that a number of the leases held under the West Coast Settlement Reserves Act, 1883, will be falling due within the next two years, and that the t«vms of lease provide that, the leases ah;; 1 1 be put up to public competition, load d with improvements to the value of 05 per acre, and as the Act does not ;illo\v for compensation for improvement? durin" a further term, he will brin;? down legislation making provision for compensation for improvements during the second term of the leases.

Provision should bo made that these improvements ba protected to the tenants.
