Watriana, who claims to he the native king of the Loyalty Islands, and has been for many years a resident of Sydney, states that" he interviewed Mr. Fisher with reference to the proposal to transfer the 1.-lands to the Commonwealth, and that Mr. Fisher ■waits a despatch from the .Secretary of State with regard to the negotiations in the matter, which are proceeding between Britain and France. According to Watriana, he quarrelled with his father 52 years ago over consenting to grant a protectorate to the French." He came to Sydney and worked as a gardener and coachman for a ome years "till his mother discovered him and supplied him with funds.
