CYCLING.

CIRCULAR ROAD RACE. Up to the present sixty-six entries have been received for the Circular Road Race, which eventuates on September 5, starting from New Plymouth and finishing at the Racecourse. Competitors have entered from Australia and all parts of New Zealand, and as entries only closed on Saturday evening, it is confidently expected that a few more will trickle in. COMMITTEE MEETING. A very largely attended meeting of the Circular lload Race Committee was presided over by Mr. E. Whittle last night. The entertainment committee reported that tho .benefit performance given by the Empire Pictures had netted £7 los 3d, and the euchre party £9 lfe 6d. The Rolland dub had also undertaken to manage a big euchre party whilst Mr. Crust had consented to give another benefit performance. The committee had engaged the theatre for the evening of September 25. They had £39 10s 6d in hand. The secretary reported that funds were coming to hand well, already over £ 126 having been received.

Those who assisted as members of the entertainment committee were added to the general committee.

The following officials were appointed: —Starter, Mr. A. Hansen; assistant starter. Mr. A. George; call steward, Mr. J. Elliott; feed steward, Mr. 11. Moon; number. ta;g, and sealing stewards, Messrs. G. Tabor, IT. Brooks and B. Tippins; Press stewards, Messrs. Williams and Garcia; check stewards, Messrs. Sadler, Hawkins, and Vincent; finishing stewards, Messrs. M. Julian, .Tones, Green, Jonas, 0. Kelly, and Dineen; dressing and programme steward. Mr. G. Griffiths; timekeepers, Messrs. J. Bennett and A. Hansen.

Messrs. A. George and M. L. Hol&h t were appointed to take charge of the'

motor cycle race., Messrs. E. Whittle, A. George, and J. McLeod were appointed an appeil committee. Competitors' clothes will be forwarded up from the Drill Hall to the Racecourse for the convenience of competitors finishing, and it was resolved to arrange with Mr. Blewman, caretaker of the course, if possible for dressing facilities for the competitors on their return. The arrangement of the entertainment for the prize-giving ceremony was left to the entertainment committee. The canvassing committee is to ibt asked to make a progress report at next general meeting.
