The brakes on a motor char-a-banc at Dalserf failed. The char-a-banc overturned at an embankment, and the upper portion fell into a river. Twentythree were injured. THE PRICE OF MEAT. Sydney, August 12. The president of the Master Butchers' Association declares that some meat selling in Sydney is not fit for dogs. He explained the variation in prices was due to some retailers buying only the poorest quality, because good meat was such a high price. DIPHTHERIA. Sydney, August 12. The diphtheria prevalent in the metropolitan area for some time is now subsiding. There were twenty deaths in twentr weeks.
