THE WEATHER
SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. Last Night. The following weather summary and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Bureau at 5 p.m.:—Summary: The barometer fell on Saturday morning, but rose smartly during the night and on Sunday, when the wind changed to the south. Cold and stormy weather was experienced, especially in the South Island and southern parts of the North Island. Considerable rain, snow, hail and sleet fell on the east coast and higher levels. Forecast: Present indications are for strong easterly winds, northward of East Cape and Kawhia, moderate to strong southerlies, decreasing elsewhere, and then changing to increasing northerlies after about twenty houra. Cold and fair to cloudy weather will probably prevail, with some scattered local showers. The barometer will probably fall everywhere after 24 hours, and a low pressure area will pass in the south about "Wednesday night.
