Unionist newspapers declare that the Master of Elibank stoutly resisted the land taxes; hence he was sacrificed and created a baron. The land taxers are now hoping for a clearer field. Lord Eliltank, hearing that the miners intended to nominate their agent, Robert Brow«. for Midlothian, offered to ask the prospective Liberal candidate to stand for another constituency. Lord Elibank hopes to return to polities in five years' time. LABOR AND SOCIALISM. London, August 11. The Westminster Gaeztte states that the Labor Party and Socialists already have 150 candidates for the next election, including Ben Tillett. THE INSURANCE BILL. The Insurance Bill Committee at Limerick have, accepted the offers of doctors to attend consumptives for 5s a week, paying one or two visits weekly.
