Strong representations were made to Mr. Scott by the official Liberal Party .to allow himself to be put in nomination, but he has declined for private reasons. Mr. Jennings likewise looks askance at the job; in plain terms, he refuses to tackle it. A private letter received in Manaia indicates that Mr. 0. E. Major, formerly member for Patea, may enter the contest as Liberal candidate for Egmont. Mr. Major is at present in the district.Waimate Witness.
