WONDERFUL CURES BY RADIUM

The Radium Institute, which owes its origin to the initiative,of King Kdward, and was made possible by the munificence of Lord lvcagh and Sir Robert Cassell, has attracted in its short career so large a number of sufferers that a step has been taken which is probably without parallel in the history of hosiptal-s. It has been decided to increase the number of the assistants and the nursing stall' so that it will be possible now to obtain treatment at the Institute until eleven o'clock at night. Previously the hours were much the same as at most hospitals.

It is ton early to speak positively of the results of all tlie. cures attemptedmany were hopeless from the beginning—but a vast aiiiount of sull'eriug and disligurement has been relieved since the. fnstitute was opened on August 14 of last year. One elderly woman, who was sull'eriug from rodent ulcer in the region of the I've, has cause to bless the Radium Institute. If she bad taken the advice given at a metropolitan hospital she would have had the eye removed. As a last hope she placed herself in the hands of the radium experts of Langliam Place, and she is now walking about with a ■sound skin ami a sound eye.

An ameriean who specially crossed the Atlantic for the cure of rodent ulcer on the side of his nose, which would have spread to the throat eventually, is now on his way home, a sound man and rejoicing. Oases worse than these could be multiplied manyfold. Poor patients who have received treatment at the Institute speak in the highest praise of the ollicials. Exactly similar treatment is accorded to the wealthy paying patient and the patient without a shilling in the world. Appointments are not made to suit the s'talT, but the convenience of the patients themselves, and if a. country patient can save money by taking a half-day excursion ticket to London arrangements are made to this end.
