(Conducted by "Eileen.") NEW PLYMOUTH SOCIAL NEWS BALL. The -Old Girls" of the High School held their annual 'ball in the Theatre' Royal last Wednesday evening, which was a great success. The hall had been j prettily decorated with hunting and large | Japanese umbrellas, giving a scene of j brilliant Oriental eiFect. Excellent music was rendered by Mrs. Woods' orchestra, and with a recherche supper and plenty of partners, there was nothing left to be desired. Amongst those present were: Mrs. Moyes, -black satin, with cream lace berthe. Miss Grant, very pretty vicux rose oharmeuse, trimmed' with gold embroidery. Miss Drew, black chifi'on taffeta. Miss Livingstone.' Mrs. Buxton, smart rose-pink charmeuse, veiled in pale blue ninon with flowered ribbon sash, blue ribbon in coiffure. ■Mrs. A. McDiarmid, pale green silk, trimmed with gold Oriental embroidery. Miss Mathews, pale blue satin, with ninon tunic, lightly touched with pale j pink. Miss Glasgow, pale blue charmeuse, with deep band of Irish lace on skirt, corsage finished with same. Miss Stewart, lovely shell pink charmeuse, with panels of cream lace, outlined I with narrow passementerie trimming. Miss Govett, pale blue satin. Miss Dempsey, pale grey charmeuse, deftly finished with cream lace on decolletage.
