1 SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. Last Night. The Meteorological Department published the following summary and forecast at 5 p.m.: —Summary.—The barometer Tose even-where during the night, and weet to south-westerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed. The weather was stormy, especially in the south, last sight, but improved to-day. Forecast. — Present indications are for moderate to strong southerly winds, backing again to westerly and increasing southward of Kawhia and Castlepoint. The barometer has a risinp tendency in the north, but wiR probably fall in. the south. Fair to cloudy T . gather is probable generally, but unsettled on the West Coast and in the southern districts of the South Island, for another westerly storm area appears to be developing on the Tasman Sea.
