THE . GAMI.NO ACT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. In the Magistrate's Court, in his reserved judgment in the case in which Win. Scott and ITeury Martmdale wore charged with publishing a document containing a notification as to betting on <a horse race at T-rentlvam, the Magistrate said that the onus of proof was on the prosecution, and. he was not prepared to say that publication had been made. The information was therefore dismissed. NEGLIGENT DRIVING. Woodvllle, Monday. A man named Richard Stevens was to-day fined 40s and costs 13s for negligent driving. He drove over and hurt a child, and did not stop to see what damage he had done. MEASLES ON THE PIONEER. Napier, Monday. Owing to an outbreak of German measles amongst the crew, the Pioneer cut her visit to Napier short and left to-day for Lytteltoil, where she goes into quarantine.
